
The Week Ahead
22th - 26th March 2021
A week filled with Fed speeches with the main one being Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen being scheduled to testify twice amid covid reliefs and treasury yield concerns. This week’s U.S. economic calendar includes data on home sales, GDP, inflation and consumer sentiment data. While the EU and UK will release PMI, jobs, inflation and retail sales data.
15th - 19th March 2021
After the BoC and the ECB meetings last week, this week brings the Feb, BoE, BoJ. The main event will of course be The Federal Open Market Committee meet on March 16 and 17. The Fed is expected to forecast better economic growth, following the signing of the $1.9 trillion coronavirus fiscal relief package last week. Given the continued rise in Treasury yields, investors will be keeping an eye if the Fed will alter its interest rate outlook as fears of taper tantrum still looms.
